Why “Mayday”?
Have you ever wondered why we use the word “Mayday” when in trouble?
It started in France and the French word for “help me” is “m’aidez”! Phonetically, it comes out as “mayday”!
We Two Chums always love to ask “why” and we love sharing the answers as well!
If you are in trouble of any kind we encourage you not to remain silent. Some things you can work out on your own, but if you are seeing that you are struggling for a prolonged period of time and are beginning to feel hopeless, reach out. We have ALL had those feelings at one time or another. You are not alone in your distress. Sometimes just speaking what is troubling you to another person takes the power of whatever it is away and lifts the burden by knowing someone else has heard you and understands where you are.
Your Two Chums always turn to the Bible and lean heavily on what God tells us in His word for help and support. King David, who was no stranger to trouble, wrote in the Psalms chapter 46 and verse 1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” And also we read in the Old Testament from the prophet Zephaniah in chapter 3, verse 17 “The LORD your God is in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
If you are stuck in a dark place and can’t get out on your own, and telling a close friend or loved one how you are feeling has not helped, seek out a professional to walk you through the dark place you are in. You don’t have to keep suffering alone and you shouldn’t. There is help and light at the end of even the very darkest tunnel. There is an abundant life waiting for you.
Sharing – more joy – more abundance!
