Who Was It?
Which rock musician received the Nobel prize for Literature?
As if an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and multiple Grammy awards weren’t enough, in 2016, Bob Dylan won the Nobel Prize for Literature.
As crazy as it seems, according to the Nobel Foundation, the award was in recognition for Dylan “having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.”
While many believe Dylan was the first “songwriter” to win the Nobel Prize for Literature, that distinction arguably best applies to Rabindranath Tagore, an Indian poet who won the prize in 1913. Much like Dylan, Tagore worked across multiple genres, including poetry, and composed roughly 2,000 songs, many of which remain popular today.
So very interesting!
