Well Done Walgreens – Love Wins
This story was a post an old friend made on Facebook about something that happened to a friend of hers. The last two words say everything…
This is the post as it appeared on Facebook:
“My son and I went into a Walgreens today. He asked for a small toy. I told him that Christmas is coming soon. He said it was the only one left. I told him I didn’t have any money for toys today, and he didn’t have any money, so what did he suggest we do? He said maybe we could leave it up front for Santa. This is HUGE, considering he made an alternate plan himself, with words, no meltdown, no attention seeking or inappropriate behavior of any kind. He was trying to be brave, but some tears slipped through when he told the cashier, Connie, that he would like to leave this for Santa to pick up. She was very sweet and even put it behind the locked cabinet to ensure Santa would get it. He left with quiet tears only. When I went back to Walgreens to pick up the toy, the manager had purchased it and wrapped it in special paper. It had a letter from Santa addressed to my son. Connie had told the manager how sad Jesse was and how patiently he was going to wait until Christmas, hoping Santa would remember. Connie reported that he had broken her heart with his sincerity.
This is the magic of the season. This is a stranger making magic for my little boy.
I asked her what I could do, how could I repay her kindness? She said simply she was happy to do it.
It’s still happening! People loving each other just because they are happy to give their hearts away. I didn’t get the store manager’s name, but I am grateful to her and to Connie the cashier, for rebooting Christmas in my heart.

Love Wins.”
