The Two Popes!

The film is a fictionalized encounter between German Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, who becamePope Benedict XVI in 2005, and Argentinian Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio. Bergoglio was elected after Benedict’s resignation in 2013, becoming the current Pope Francis. 

Anthony Hopkins and Jonathan Pryce were both Academy Award nominees for this flick and we can see why.

It is beautifully made and takes one on somewhat of a spiritual journey, while all the time explaining what happened when Pope Benedict felt he needed to do the unthinkable ….resign his post. To some, this was unheard of – to vacate a spot which you had been divinely placed into. But, he felt that he was hearing that he should.
