Washing Day Savvy Secrets
In times gone by, Monday was designated as Wash Day. No matter what day (or days) of the week you do laundry, here are some Savvy Secrets that may make this job easier 🙂To avoid creases in your clothes when using a drying rack, use a pool noodle to cover each rung on the rack. Make a slit lengthwise in the pool noodle and slip it over the rung.
If you run out of dryer sheets when doing your laundry, simply crumple up a piece of aluminum foil and place it in the dryer with your clothes for natural softening. The piece of foil should be good for about 6 months.
Use a dry erase marker and write directly on your washing machine or dryer to remind yourself which items to take out and air dry. You can simply wipe away the notes to yourself when your laundry is done.
Use large towel hooks spaced appropriately to create a hanger for your ironing board.
If beautifully folded laundry is a value to you, use a cardboard template to fold your shirts and children clothing around to make them uniformly and really neatly folded. The cardboards that mens shirts come folded with from the laundry are perfect for this.
Install a towel rack in your laundry room for added space to hang laundry that needs to be air dried.
Need some wheels on your laundry hamper? Use some children’s toy cars and hot glue them to the bottom of your hamper. Problem solved!
Never lose a sock in the black hole of your washer or your dryer again. Use clothes pins to attach a zippered mesh bag to your laundry hamper for everyone’s socks. Throw the bag in the washing machine and then into the dryer. No more missing socks when the laundry is done.
To speed up drying time, put a dry bath towel in the dryer with your wet clothes for the first 15 minutes. The dry towel helps to absorb the moisture from your wet laundry so everything dries more quickly.
Use a drink dispenser to hold your laundry soap. It’s easy to access and looks a lot nicer than that plastic detergent bottle.
Here’s to clean fresh laundry and a very Happy Monday 🙂
