Was Chocolate the very First Thing for Milton Hershey?
Well, if you answered, “Yes” to the titular question, you got it wrong!
Trivia Genius tell us:
“Milton Hershey was trained as a confectioner, and his Lancaster Caramel Company became successful for its caramels made with milk. He’d started that company in 1886, but after he saw a German chocolate demonstration at the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago, Hershey decided to pivot his business. He began experimenting with making milk chocolate, and by the time he created the Hershey’s Bar in 1900, he’d sold his caramel company for $1 million.”
Holy mackerel – One million dollars in 1900 was who knows what in present-day currency! Loads and loads more!
