Vote!

What a privilege it is to be a citizen of a country where you have the right to vote!  And, as usual, when privilege comes, there comes also responsibility!

It might surprise you to know that it was not until 1920 that all women were allowed to vote in the United States.  It took courageous women many years to achieve this.  For around one hundred years, women such as Susan B. Anthony and later on Alice Paul, fought for the right to vote, oftentimes being imprisoned for acting in such a way.   It was Alice Paul who picketed outside of the White House where President Wilson paid absolutely no attention.

He became so hated by women that they called him “Kaiser Wilson”, comparing the plight of the German people at the time, with American women.

Wilson opposed women’s suffrage for many years and finally, in 1918, he changed his position.  The vote was finally ratified by enough states in 1920, giving women the right to vote.

So, now that we have this precious Constitutional Right, let’s all use it, ladies and gentlemen, alike!  Don’t get pulled into the thought, “Oh, my vote doesn’t matter”.  Yes, of course your vote matters.  It matters a lot.  Go and make it!  If everyone took the attitude that their vote did not make a difference, the health of the country would decline!

Yes, go and vote for the one you feel will fill our lives with more love, joy and abundance!

I certainly will vote. And I believe I am open minded (to a degree) and well read and informed on the ballot issues.
May we all still be friends afterwards!
