Through The Years
We thought it would be fun to share with you some photographs of the Royal Family through the years.
We found these on Marie Claire and felt sure that they would love us to pass them along.
Taken just one month after Prince Charles was born in 1948, here Princess Elizabeth (now Queen Elizabeth II) holds her son at Buckingham Palace and poses for the camera moments after his christening ceremony. Based on this, we think it’s safe to say Queen Elizabeth’s hat game was strong back then, too.
Two years later, it was Princess Anne’s turn to sit still and take christening photos with mama and papa bear. Does anyone else thinking Prince Charles is trying to give his sis the bunny ears in this?
This fun candid (which was taken in 1951) was the first color photograph ever taken of Princess Anne and it sure is a good one. It’s as if Princess Anne was trying to say, “No, daddy, the camera’s THIS way!”
Captured just moments after Prince William’s christening ceremony in 1982, the royal crew (Prince Charles, Prince Phillip, Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana, and Queen Elizabeth), gathered around a golden couch inside Buckingham Palace to take a few snaps with the new baby. As you can see, the star of the show is simply not having it.
Here, in 1986, Charles and Diana pose causally with William, 4, and Harry, 2—in matching outfits no less—while strolling through a wild flower meadow just outside their Highgrove home. Will is all about striking a pose, but, true to his rebellious self, it looks like Harry is refusing to “smile for the camera.”
A few months later, the Prince and Princess of Wales took this gorgeous photo of the royal gang and their adorable dog at Kensington Palace. Look at the boys’ wonderful red shoes!
If you thought baby Will and Harry were adorable, here they are as teenagers, in 1997, posing with extended family at Prince William’s confirmation at the Windsor Castle. Not sure where Prince Philip is! Not there!
Nearly 14 years later, in 2011, newlyweds Kate and Will were all smiles posing with the kiddie members of their wedding party in the throne room at Buckingham Palace. What an absolutely blissful day and how well Catherine Middleton has taken on her royal duties!
2013 brought Prince George! Kate and Will posing outside the Middleton Family home with little George and their pups Lupo and Tilly by their side. We’re sure they had a glam squad help them out, but still…can this picture be any more perfect?!
