The Nutcracker
Few icons of Christmas are more evident worldwide than the Nutcracker.
Nutcrackers were once almost exclusively symbols of police or politicians, kings or soldiers. They were a nod to those who held power in society or who were in a position to protect those in their spheres of influence.
Today they are charming decorations that grace our homes at the holidays and remind us of a time gone by when such decorations were both special due to their attention to detail and common because they were found in nearly every family brought out at the holidays and passed down from generation to generation.
If you don’t own one think about purchasing one this season. But be warned. Not unlike Lays potato chips, NOBODY can have just one! They are a lovely collection that you can start now and pass on to your family someday. They are unique in that they are beloved by children and adults alike. It is a delight to see the faces of children and adults when nutcrackers come out of wherever they are stored all year long to make their holiday appearance like old friends who show up each Christmas season to remind us of our own past Christmases and happy childhood memories. Memories of cookies and hot cocoa and warming ourselves by the fireplace and taking in the intoxicating scent of freshly cut trees and the smooth voices of all sorts of artists singing Christmas carols while we drift off and dream of the joys of the season.
Get yourself on line or look in your favorite shop when you are out looking for Christmas gifts and get this sweet gift for yourself and your loved ones. You will be happy to see that precious friend when you unwrap him again next year and the next and the one after that.
Your Two Chums are wishing you happy decorating and a Happy Christmas time to you all!
