The Duchess Slant

th

No, it is not Catherine’s “slant” on life we are talking about.  It has more to do with the way Her Royal Highness sits.

Certainly, it is evident that HRH Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has had some great training.  One of the things she has learned is where to place her legs when sitting.

Yes, her knees and ankles are always together (and not crossed) and her legs are tilted to one side.

Myka Meier, founder and director of Beaumont Etiquette says, “It is the perfect pose for when a camera is shooting directly in front of you because by slightly slanting the knees…your legs are angled so that the camera only shoots the sides of your legs and protects your modesty.”
Etiquette expert Grant Harold, a former butler to Prince Charles, agrees: “When wearing high heels this positioning can of course be a more comfortable and more importantly stops you from tripping someone up.   Ladies wouldn’t normally cross their legs and certainly would not cross at the knees.”

Now known in etiquette circles as “The Duchess Slant”, this Royal did not invent it.  Princess Diana is seen here using the same pose.

Come on, ladies, let’s follow suit!
