The Cupcake Cake
What a clever way to have your cake and cupcakes too!You may have seen or even bought a cake made from cupcakes, but if you haven’t, we wanted to give you a glimpse of how you can use cupcakes at your next birthday party or celebration. When they are iced together to create a shape or design, cupcakes can then be separated when it is time to serve them and there is no cutting or portion control to worry over.
This adorable starfish was made by my clever daughter, Amanda, for my granddaughter, Evangeline’s 5th birthday party. It was made from 17 regular sized cupcakes and roughly a dozen mini cupcakes. After they were arranged to resemble a starfish shape, they were iced together with a peachy colored butter cream icing and dusted with a mixture of pink, yellow and orange sanding sugar to give the “starfish” texture.
Candied pearls were added to create the detail one might find on a creature living at the seashore.
Some mini cupcakes were adorned individually with tiny icing “starfish” and small candied pearls, and placed around the larger starfish. The tray the “cake” was presented on was sprinkled with more of the sanding sugar to simulate the sand the starfish might be sitting on in his natural environment.
That is a lot of info, when what you really need to know is this was a big hit with children and adults alike, especially the birthday girl 🙂
Everyone loves cupcakes and if you make them into shapes to fit your party theme it is all the more fun! Cupcakes in fun shapes? Sounds like a celebration filled with love, joy and abundant living to me 🙂
