Start Your New Year Warm And Chocolatey
When the days are cold, something warm and chocolatey is always welcome 🙂  We’ll bet you have no idea just how fast and easy it is to make your own chocolate syrup without the high fructose corn syrup and all the added things you don’t want in it.  You can use it for all the things you use any chocolate syrup for and as a bonus, it makes delicious and easy hot cocoa too!
Homemade Chocolate Syrup
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
Dash salt
2/3 cup hot water
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Mix sugar, cocoa powder, and salt in a sauce pan. Â Add water and stir to combine. Continue stirring until mixture boils. Â Allow to boil for 2 minutes. Â Remove from the heat and stir in vanilla. Â Cool and store, or use warm to make hot cocoa. Â This is enough syrup for 8 cups of cocoa.
Warm 1 cup of milk and stir in chocolate syrup to taste. Â Add your favorite toppings, like marshmallows
Maybe add a candy cane left over from the holidays as a stir stick
or add some whipped cream and drizzle with more of the chocolate syrup.
Maybe crush some peppermint candy and sprinkle it on the whipped cream
Or crush some of the toffee left from the holidays and top your cocoa with that.
No matter how you fix your cocoa, grab a good book or turn on your favorite movie, curl up with a cozy blanket, and experience a warm and chocolatey start to your new year.  Little moments like this make for an abundant life filled with love and so much joy 🙂
