Spring Break Pizza Milkshake Movie Party
Looking for something fun and memorable to do with your family over this Spring Break? Here’s an idea that turned out to be a BIG hit in our home! Let’s face it…everyone loves pizza. And for that matter we all love milkshakes too, so you know anything with both of these favorites is going to spell a good time. But give everyone a chance to MAKE his or her own pizza and milkshake, give these combos fun names, throw in a favorite movie, and voila….you are ready to make some memories this Spring Break or anytime you want to make some fun. This is a party and activity that is fun for all ages! We have a list of ideas below to help you have a terrific Pizza Milkshake Movie party.
Good times, family, friends, memories …all things that add to a life full of love, joy and that sense of abundant living:)
About a month ago, when our grandchildren were spending the night and my cousin Sandy was visiting, we decided spontaneously one night, to make pizzas and milkshakes and watch a movie. It was such fun and such a hit with everyone that our 9 year old grandson, Jeremy, wanted to know if I thought we could “maybe do this once a month!” Now just the idea that he would want to do this with Randy and me regularly brought great joy to us. All too soon there will be ball games, dances, friends, and girls that will demand his attention, so while he still enjoys a Saturday night with Lolli and Cisco (that is what our grandchildren call us) you can bet there will be a lot of pizza and milkshakes made around our house 🙂
To make your pizzas you can use the method and recipe for dough and making pizza that we posted about a month ago. For the milkshakes you will need a good blender, either the traditional kind or an immersion blender that will allow you to make your milkshakes right in the glass. They look like this:
Now pick some of your favorite ingredients like Oreo cookies, M&M’s, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, strawberries or bananas, chocolate or caramel sauce for example, and combine them with some good quality ice cream (I would recommend Haagen Daaz Vanilla) and a little milk. You can give your milkshake combos fun names that mimic the names of some classic movies or those that are your family favorites. We had a printed menu that listed the possibilities for milkshake combos and all the options for toppings on the pizzas.
Experiment with the different kinds of pizza. Maybe you would want to make two small pizzas for each person, so they can try different kinds and different combinations of sauce and toppings. You could make all cheese with a pesto sauce and 5 different kinds of cheese, or a barbeque chicken pizza with bacon, red onion and cilantro. You could even make a pizza with taco ingredients and use salsa as your sauce…the possibilities are endless.
Whatever kind of pizza or milkshake you make, be sure that you remember the most important thing you are making is the memories of good times together.
