Soup Supper For Oscar

Sunday night will be a time for your Two Chums and our husbands, and our longtime chums, the Williams, to gather around the TV to take in Hollywood’s big night of celebration as they honor their favorite films of the year.

The six of us have kept this tradition for as long as any of us can remember. We love our tradition. And one of the things we love about it is the food that is a big part of our fun. Our dear chums the Williams turn up every year with an elaborate and truly delicious hors d’ouvre tray that could rival any 5 star buffet. There are meats and cheeses, breads and crackers, nuts, fruits, veggies, and chocolates just to name a few. This is a sample of just some of the things we enjoyed one year:

After grazing on all that, we don’t have room for a big meal and then dessert too. And who wants to skip dessert? So we’ve learned to keep the “main course” small and simple. We often have soup. And the soup of choice is very often creamy Tomato Bisque.

Sometimes we add mini Toasted Cheese Sandwiches or Homemade Pizza

and leave just enough room for something sweet like a Hot Fudge Sundae with a brownie.
