Savvy Secrets – Pool Noodles Part 1
One of the icons of summer fun is the pool noodle. Nearly everyone who has a pool has one or even several. We all know their purpose and usefulness there. But did you know there are many more uses for the common pool noodle? We have some great ideas and uses to share with you that we found on the site Shareably.net. Give some of these a try. You can usually find pool noodles at the Dollar store or 99 Cent Only store. These are inexpensive and easy solutions for some common challenges:
Using some plastic rope, thread it through pool noodles cut to fit around a plastic storage bin. Fill the bin with ice and beverages and you have a floating ice chest in your pool with cold drinks to enjoy without ever having to leave your raft or spot in the pool.
Cut an 8″ – 10″ piece of a pool noodle then cut it in half lengthwise. Glue the flat side to the wall where your car door opens in your garage and you will no longer need to worry that you are going to bang your car door into the wall.
Cut a pool noodle the length of the base of a wire hanger and then make a lengthwise slit to fit it over the hanger base. Your trousers will no longer have a crease from hanging them on the wire hanger.
You never have to worry about stubbing your toe on your bed frame again. Cut a pool noodle the length of the legs then either slip it over the bed frame legs or cut a lengthwise slit in each piece of the noodle and wrap it around the leg. No more stubbed toes.
Use pool noodles to keep fabric or tablecloths or even napkins smooth, crease and wrinkle free. Wrap extra pieces of fabric or tablecloths around the noodles and voila! This also makes them easy to store standing up in a closet.
If you’ve got a little one visiting or learning to sleep in a “big bed”, tape a pool noodle with duct tape to your mattress and then cover with the fitted sheet. The pool noodle will work as a guard to keep that little one from rolling out of bed.
Simple solutions to common challenges are always welcome. Stay tuned. Next week we will have some more ideas and uses for you on how to make this household item a valuable and simple solution to some common problems.

Great ideas. You do know it is “duct” tape. I used split water pipe insulation (looks like long pool noodle) to make marble raceways for some science fun at school. Flexible enough to make loops, The kids used the wall, tables, chairs, stairs, etc. to make that marble land in the cup at the end.
