Savvy Secrets – Gluten Free Baking
If you have started cooking gluten free, you know it can be like learning to cook all over again, especially when it comes to baking. Too often gluten free recipes result in food that can taste a bit like flavored cardboard…and who wants to eat that?!!! Much less invest your time and resources to end up with something that just isn’t appealing to eat. There is a lot of trial and error….mostly error we’ve found…in finding ways to make truly delicious food that everyone, even those who aren’t gluten free, will enjoy eating.
We came across a chart for swapping out ingredients to gluten free ingredients in baking and tips for making gluten free foods more enjoyable. We think this is really helpful. Learning to cook, and especially bake gluten free, is like traveling to a foreign country where you don’t speak the language. It’s an adventure, sometimes frustrating but generally if you are positive in your attitude and willing to fail from time to time, you can have a wonderful experience and discover all kinds of new territory and eventually you will be fluent in “gluten free”.
Give this chart a try, think of it as a travel guide, and then let us know how it goes for you on your next gluten free baking adventure.
Happy gluten free eating!
