Savvy Secrets – A Place for Everything

Decorating for the holidays is always so much fun.  But un-decorating can be a different story.  We have some Savvy Secrets that will make the chore of packing up your holiday decorations so much better!

1. Pack  your lights away so that when you take them out next year you don’t have a tanged rat’s nest of lights on your hands.  This holder is available at Christmas Lights Etc for under $20.

2.If you don’t store your special holiday dishes in a dining room cabinet or hutch, you can store them in a box without risking damage. Line a cardboard box with newspaper and bubble wrap, then stack each plate with a sheet of bubble wrap in between. Fill the gaps with crumpled newspaper so the plates won’t shift when being stored.

3.Use garment bags to store your wrapping paper.  Load them up and then hang them with your paper ready for use the next time you need it.

4. For smaller glass ornaments you can use egg cartons to store and protect them.  They are stackable in these cartons which you can pack into a larger container, preferably plastic.

5. You can use a hanging jewelry or accessory bag to store and organize gift bags and tissue and gift tags.  It is easy to see what you have and it keeps them separated and neat.  And in these hanging bags these wrapping items take up only a very little space in your closet or cupboard.
