It is hard to believe ~ it’s that time of year once again!
In anticipation of Sunday’s Oscars, we wanted to share some Academy Awards Trivia with you!
- The Hurt Locker is the lowest grossing Best Picture of all time.
- The first female Best Director winner was Katherine Bigelow.
- The only person to win an Oscar for both acting and writing is Emma Thompson.
- Hattie McDaniel was the first African American star to win a prize for acting.
- Sophia Loren was the first person to win an acting award for a non-English-language movie.
- The first animated film that was nominated for Best Picture was Beauty and the Beast.
- John Ford has won the most Oscars for Directing.
- The person who has hosted the most Oscar shows is Bob Hope.
- The last movie to “sweep” the Big Five awards (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay) was The Silence of the Lambs.
- Marlee Matlin was the youngest person to receive the Best Actress award for Children of a Lesser God.
