Puppies In A Jacket
There is no “recipe” per se for these, just a method for assembly. We used cocktail hot dogs from Trader Joes’ because they are all beef and nitrate free, so in other words healthier than some mini hot dogs. You can use any brand you like.
Simply roll out a piece of bread which you have trimmed the crusts from, then butter it and slice into 4 strips. With the buttered side facing out, roll the strip of bread around one of the mini hot dogs and press the end to “seal” the strip. Place it seam side down on a baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes until golden brown and crisp. Serve with ketchup and brown mustard for dipping.
