Prince Charles’ Wife?
Just who is Prince Charles wife?
HRH Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall is the answer to that question and yes, she will be by his side when Prince Charles eventually takes the throne. Whether or not she is then known as “Queen” is still not decided – we shall just have to see. When Prince Charles and Camilla got married, it was said that she would not become Queen. It was felt, certainly, that the country would not stand for it as many of the people in England were still reeling after Diana’s tragic death and the treatment she was given by the monarchy.
Most of us know Camilla as the person who came between Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales but what is she really all about?
This is what The British Monarchy website has to say about her:
“The Duchess of Cornwall was born Camilla Rosemary Shand on 17 July 1947 at King’s College Hospital, London.
She is the eldest of three siblings: a sister, Annabel Elliot (nee Shand), and a brother, Mark Shand. Mark Shand, who was a well-known conservationist and founder of the Elephant Family charity, died on 23rd April 2014.
As a member of the Royal Family, The Duchess of Cornwall supports her husband, The Prince of Wales, in carrying out his work and duties as Heir to The Throne. She also undertakes public engagements on behalf of her own charities.
The Duchess is Patron or President of a number of charities and attends events to support them. She also supports the work of the British Armed Services both in the United Kingdom and abroad.
Her Royal Highness has her own military appointments and accompanies The Prince on the majority of his visits to the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.
The Duchess of Cornwall also visits other countries on overseas tours with The Prince of Wales as part of Their Royal Highnesses’s role in supporting The Queen and together, Their Royal Highnesses are among the United Kingdom’s most important ambassadors.
The overseas visits are undertaken at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to further British diplomatic interests, raise the UK’s profile in the country visited and highlight British excellence.”
There are a few books out on her and we have found it very helpful to read a couple of them as it showed us that she really does have a heart.
There is no doubt that she loves her husband, Prince Charles, and certainly stands by him. His sons, William and Harry seem to have a great relationship with her which speaks volumes.
All in all, we feel that she will be a great person to be by his side when Prince Charles eventually becomes “His Majesty King Charles”.
