1. Dear Ann Landers (aka Esther Lederer) and Dear Abbey (Pauline Phillips) were not only sisters but twin sisters.
2. How much do we really love the Golden Arches? About 5% of the entire U.S. potato crop goes to make McDonald’s French fries. (And, yes, they are yummy!)
3. Looking to expand his fan base, a young Elvis Presley landed a month long gig at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry. Unfortunately, the booking didn’t last. After just one performance (on October 2, 1954) the management threw Elvis out onto the street because he wasn’t singing country “correctly”.
4. The poinsettia, the red and green flower commonly seen at Christmas time, isn’t snow friendly; it is native to sunny Mexico.

6.In the 1950’s, Harper Lee moved to New York to become an author. Her 1960 novel To Kill a Mockingbird won a Pulitzer Prize, but aside from a few non-fiction magazine articles she’s published since, she’s refused to write anything else – including a forward for her lone novel.
7. The familiar piano tune we know as “Chopsticks” was written by a sixteen-year-old girl in 1877 and was published as “The Celebrated Chop Waltz”.
8. While its probably the best known waterfall in North America, Niagara Falls is only the 23rd highest on the continent.
9. Elephants are the only mammal physically unable to jump. This is because of their enormous weight.
10. Horses cannot breathe through their mouth. If their nostrils become obstructed, they could suffocate.
