Play With Your Pumpkins

There is more than one  way to decorate a pumpkin for Halloween…and a lot of creative fun to be had in the process 🙂

As I have mentioned in a previous post about Trick or Treat, my husband, Randy is a big fan of Halloween…I think it is because it brings out his “inner child” 🙂  He LOVES to dress up!… LOVES  to hand out the candy!!!…And LOVE, LOVE, LOVES to carve his jack-o-lanterns!!!!  Some years ago he came across a book called Play With Your Pumpkins.  It is a great little book that you can get by clicking on this link to Amazon. It has lots of fun ideas for ways to decorate your jack-o-lantern that aren’t the same old ones you see everywhere, and some fun recipes for things you can make with all that pumpkin you may have after Halloween is over.   The book gave him the idea to turn the pumpkin sideways and use the stem as the nose of his jack-o-lantern.  He has been doing that ever since.  That book was some of the best $6.95 he may have ever spent in terms of giving him joy and inspiration in his pumpkin carving.

Though it is too late to get the book for this year’s pumpkin carving in your home, I would encourage you to order it now so you have it for next year.  Otherwise, if you are like me, you may not think of it again until next year the day before Halloween when it will again be too late.

There are so many ways to decorate pumpkins that can stir the creative juices in you.  Better Home and Gardens website BHG.com has some really fun ideas.  Here are just a few that may give you some inspiration:

No matter what age your children or grandchildren are (or your inner child may be) these would be fun projects to do together in preparation for this Halloween.  Even if the little people in your life are really little and too young to carve or decorate they can still get into the  act 🙂

If you can’t be home tomorrow evening to hand out candy to those very precious and excited children who will come knocking on your door in expectation of  a treat, you can place a pumpkin by your door and use it to do the candy holding for you.

No matter how little or much time you choose to devote to Halloween, don’t miss the chance to celebrate in some way with love, joy and a grand sense of abundant living!  That’s why we say “Happy Halloween” 🙂

WELL! Randy has made “the big time”. I’m still waiting for my moment of glory, basking in the sunshine of “The Two Chums”. These are really adorable pumpkins. Maybe I should just put on my orange suit of clothing for tomorrow when I pass out 1500 pieces of candy here in Burbank. I’ve got “pumpkin” written all over my face! – from The “gaunt” Trickster
