Play With Your Napkin

A little over a week ago we gave you some Savvy Secrets – Fun With Napkins. Today we want to show you some fun ways to display those napkins.  Your Two Chums simply LOVE using cloth napkins!What a great way to use old flatware!  It can become a napkin ring by bending it with a pair of small pliers to curve it in such a way that it encircles your cloth napkin.

By using a piece of chalkboard paper you can create a napkin ring that doubles as a place card as well.  Cut a piece of the chalkboard paper (you can find it at the craft store) that is the width and length you need to go around the rolled up napkin.  Cut a slit in each end of the paper.  Bring the paper around and secure with a ribbon of a coordinating color slipped through the slits.  Use chalk or a chalk pen ( also available at the craft store) to write your guests name.

You can really have some fun with this one!  Use old costume jewelry earrings or brooches attached to a new hair elastic band or a plain purchased napkin ring ( you can buy a package of 6 or 8 at the 99 cent store).  Each guest can have a unique and beautiful adornment to his or her napkin.

Use fun themed cookie cutters as napkin rings.  For a garden party for example, you could use a variety of flower shared cookie cutters.  Or for a baby shower use cookie cutters that are little hands or feet and a rattle or baby carriage or baby bottle.  Stars and flags would make great napkin rings at a 4th of July celebration.  And what fun to have different seashells at a beach party or beach wedding.  There is no end to the ideas you can come up with for these.  And for an extra fun touch serve sugar cookies made in the shapes of the cookie cutters you are using as napkin rings.

Need something fun to use at a guys birthday party or a party for a contractor or someone who works with wood or funrnitue?  Use a “C” clamp.  These can be purchased at the $1 store and make a great statement decoration at the right occasion.

Having a “going away” or “bon voyage” party for a friend?  Use inexpensive luggage tags as your napkin ring and your place card.

This is a way to secure your napkin and give your guest a little favor at a garden party or Fall gathering.  Use seed packets either of flowers, or fruits and veggies, and write the guest’s name on the seed packet.  Secure the envelopes with simple wooden clothespins.

For a very simple but lovely and fragrant napkin ring, use a long sprig of freshly cut rosemary and tie it around your napkin tucking in the ends around themselves to form a “ring”.

At a beach or boat party buffet, use natural twine that mimics rope and attach a candy “lifesaver” to it to make a fun themed way to secure your napkins around the flatware.

Whether it is for a circus theme, a children’s clown theme party, or for a party where you just need some fun color and texture to punch up your look, use pompoms secured to an elastic hair band as your napkin ring.

Great napkins and fun napkin rings will make any meal or gathering feel like a celebration!  Oh the abundance that awaits you as you play with your napkins 🙂
