Once And For All!
There are many people who will not eat those delicious mince pies during the Holiday Season because they are sure they have meat in them!
BUT! We really do beg to differ!
Mincemeat pie is actually a fruit pie in disguise.
This festive Holiday dish was first invented in 13th century Britain, inspired by the Middle Eastern cuisine crusaders brought back from their travels. Back then, mincemeat pie actually did contain meat, along with fruit and spices, which allowed cooks to preserve meat without smoking or curing it.
The mix of meat and fruit fell out of favor by the 1800s however, as did serving mincemeat pie as a main dish. Yet the concept of spiced fruit in a pie retained the nickname “mincemeat.” Today’s mincemeat can even be pre-bought off the shelf for spooning into a pie tart, featuring a unique mix of fruits such as currants and raisins, blended with flavorful spices for a sweet and delicious holiday dessert that’s been served up for centuries!
The Holiday season would not be complete for your Two Chums without serving mince pies!
Give them a try!

One year my uncle gifted our family with some venison he had hunted. My mother made traditional mincemeat pies. They were unique and delicious. I love all types of mince pies. The younger generation of our family won’t even try them. Thank you for promoting them.
