Old Is New Again

If you are of a certain age you will surely remember the name Ann Landers and her syndicated advice column “Ask Ann Landers” as well as that of that of her twin sister, know as “Abby” in the competing popular advice column “Dear Abby”.

The two sisters handed out their views and opinions on any number of subjects that newpaper readers who followed their columns wrote in to ask about. The following “advice” or opinion on the subject of “maturity” was first published in the 1960’s and upon request was republished in this column in The Toronto Star in 1997.

What we find fascinating is that while so many things and certainly opinions of social norms have changed or morphed over the years to suit the times, this definition of maturity from some 60 years ago is as relevant and fresh today as it was when it was first published.

So we guess as they say “old is new again”. Well done and thank you Ann!
