Oh Nuts!
If you are looking for a delicious snack, a great hostess gift, the perfect accompaniment to wine or cocktails, a holiday gift for your neighbors or the mailman, or your children’s teacher, you are going to LOVE these spiced nuts!
When we give you recipes, we often say something is “easy” to make because we try to keep the recipes we offer simple enough for most anyone to make. But we must tell you, these spiced nuts are so simple a child absolutely could make these (albeit one who is supervised by an adult, since it does require using your oven). All this to say, your child could make up a batch of these for his or her teacher, or as a love gift for Grandma, or Uncle John.
It would be hard to find something this good that is this simple and easy to make, and oh!…did we mention DELICIOUS too?!!
Make some of these today and make more than you think you will want because they go quickly. They put a smile on everyones faces. Try them and then let us know what you think:-)
The combination here of sweet, slightly spicy, and fragrant from the rosemary is SOOOO good! This is an adaptation from a Better Homes and Gardens recipe. We used almonds, cashews and pecans. You could try any nuts you love and try different combinations. The original recipe calls for pepitas (pumpkin seeds). You could also try sunflower seeds. Just try this. We KNOW you will be very happy you did. You’re welcome, but hey, you should really be thanking BIG!
Spiced Nuts
3 cups of raw almonds
1 1/2 cups raw cashews, or hazelnuts or peanuts
1 1/2- 2 cups raw pecans or walnuts
2 Tablespoons butter, melted
2 Tablespoons brown sugar
2 Tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary leaves
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Place the nuts on a baking sheet and roast in a 375 degree oven for 12 minutes. While the nuts are roasting, melt the butter and stir in the remaining seasoning. As soon as you remove the nuts from the oven, put them in a bowl and pour the butter mixture over the nuts. Stir to combine and serve warm. They are good at room temperature as well. Or if you aren’t eating them right away you can warm in a preheated 375 degree oven for about 5-7 minutes. YUM!
