Nova Scotia Here They Come!
HRH The Prince of Wales and his wife, HRH The Duchess of Cornwall arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Sunday and were greeted by masses of Canadians!
Yes, Camilla donned a suit trimmed in Nova Scotia tartan and fit right in with everything that was going on.
I have to admit that whilst Diana, The Princess of Wales, was alive, it was very difficult to feel any love for Camilla. Camilla was certainly “the other woman” and it seemed that she ruined, which was to us, a rather wonderful fairy tale.
BUT (and there does seem to be a big “but”), I think Charles and Diana were doomed from the beginning as his heart always belonged to Camilla. Even though, by all accounts, he felt that he was doing the best for his country by marrying Lady Diana Spencer and putting his own feelings aside, it did not work. From the beginning, it went wrong. It just goes to show, if your heart is not in it, you may as well not do it.
When Diana so suddenly left us, I felt I had to read every book I could get my hands on about her and read them I did It was a while after that when it was clear that Charles was going to somehow get together with his love, Camilla, and I thought I had better read something about her in order to give her a chance! I must say, on reading a biography of her, all sense of “the other woman” left my thinking and I was free then to respect her for who she is…..a loving wife who has stuck by her Prince and a tremendously loving grandmother.
William and Harry seem to have accepted her into their fold and, certainly, I think she was a great help to Catherine, especially when Catherine was being initiated into the royal family! The bracelet you see Catherine wearing below was given to her by Camilla just before Catherine’s wedding. Catherine’s initial with a crown above is engraved on it.
On Monday afternoon, they bid “Farewell to Nova Scotia, the sea bound coast” and flew off to Prince Edward Island for another very quick visit. (Yes, the Prince Edward Island of Anne of Green Gables fame.)
I feel sure that Canada loved greeting their Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall…..one of the perks of being a part of the Commonwealth!
More love, more joy, and definitely much more abundance!
