No Ordinary Egg
The Imperial Coronation Egg,one of the most famous and iconic of Faberge eggs.
What is the story behind these very beautiful Faberge eggs?
Faberge is the last name of the family who originally created, upon his request, these amazingly beautiful eggs for Tsar Alexander III. He wanted to gift one to his wife, Empress Maria Fedorovna. Rumor has it that the Empress’ aunt had a very beautiful egg which she had noticed in her childhood and of which her husband was aware.
Empress Maria Fedorovna was so very thrilled with this first Easter gift that her husband commissioned another one the next year and every year after that as long as he was alive. When he passed on, his son commissioned Faberge to make two, one for his wife and one for his mother.
We have to admit, this is not the first time we have talked about Faberge eggs. We are so awed by their beauty, especially at this time of year, that we cannot help but talk about them. You can read our other post here.
In a couple of days, we will be celebrating Easter and all that that day teaches and bestows upon us.
Rejoicing in Him and wishing you all an inspiring Easter!
