Next Stop – Touring The Tea Houses
Now it is definitely time for a cuppa? Our “tea tour” has resumed.
In case you missed it on Friday, we gave you a preview of today’s post. Your Two Chums love nothing more than enjoying a good cup of tea with each other, whether at home or at a cozy tearoom. One of our dear chums, Faith, who happens to live in Belgium, shared the delightful info about these wonderful tea rooms. What could be better than a trip around the British Isles sipping tea and taking in the sights at these charming tea houses?
1. The Bat’s Wing Tea Room, Isle of Wight
2. Blackbird Tearooms, Brighton
3.Tiny Tim’s Tearoom , Canterbury
4. The Bridge Tea Rooms, Bradford-on-Avon
If historically perfect tea is your thing, then visit The Bridge Tea Rooms. It’s been around since circa 1675, it’s won numerous awards, and all the waiting staff wear Victorian costumes. Adorable.
5. Claridge’s, London
Afternoon tea at Claridge’s is simply divine. Endless sandwiches, dainty china, and perfect service. Yes, it’s pricier than most, but worth it.
6. The Hidden Treasure Tea Room, Devon
Low-key with a vintage feel, Hidden Treasures is a little gem. It also caters brilliantly for vegetarians and gluten-free/wheat-free customers.
7. Sally Lunn’s, Bath
The oldest house in Bath is best-known for one thing – the Sally Lunn bun. Rich, like a brioche, it suits either sweet or savoury flavours, and is worth travelling for.
8. Bettys, Harrogate
Bettys is an institution, and rightly so. Pictured here is the Harrogate branch, but there are five others across the north of England, including branches in York, Ilkley, and Northallerton.
9. Miss B’s Tea Rooms, Melton Mowbray
If you’re in Melton Mowbray, it would be sacrilege not to get a pork pie. And you’ll need a cup of tea to wash it down with too.
10. The Willow Tearooms, Glasgow
Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1904, The Willow Tearooms is an art nouveau haven that serves a particularly good scone.
11. Lucy’s Tearoom, Stow-on-the-Wold
A sweet tea room in the Cotswolds with a really good gluten-free menu. Look at that gluten-free apple and almond cake!
12. Peacocks Tearoom, Ely
Draped in wisteria, this utterly charming tea room is pretty as a picture. And if you like, you can stay in the adjoining B&B.
13. The Three Sheep Tea Room, Skipton
Homemade cherry scones. Need we say more?
14. The Orangery, Whitstable
This rather affordable tea room is located in the grounds of Whitstable Castle. The menu starts from two crumpets with butter for £1
15. The Essex Rose Tea House, Essex
Housed in a beautiful 16th-century building, this tea house is run by jam-making firm Tiptree, so you can anticipate a fine spread.
16. Harriet’s Cafe Tearooms, Cambridge
With two branches, one in Cambridge and one in Bury St Edmunds, you can easily get a fix of Harriets’ delicious cakes and steaming hot tea.
18. Lee Rosy’s Tea, Nottingham
A slightly edgier tea room, Lee Rosy’s puts on gigs and serves up delicious vegan peanut-butter cookies.
19. The Cobbles Tea Room, Rye
The perfectly picturesque Cobbles Tea Room prides itself on its loose-leaf tea.
20. Anteaques, Edinburgh
Part tea room, part antiques shop. What more could you want?
21. Tu Hwnt l’r Bont Tearoom, Conwy
With a name that translates as “beyond the bridge”, Tu Hwnt I’r Bont couldn’t be more breathtaking if it tried.
Tea in a cozy and charming location with a favorite chum….oh the love, joy and abundance that would bring!
Now on to another note about love, joy and abundance. When I was a child I always wanted a sister. I have two wonderful younger brothers but my parents never did produce the sister I longed for, someone to share my hopes and dreams, to have late night chats with about all the important things in life as well as the silly things that make me laugh, someone who would know what I was thinking even before I say it, someone who always has just the right words of encouragement when I’m down or facing a challenge, someone who would love my children almost as much as I do and be like a second mother to them, someone who would let me go on endlessly about my grandchildren and the latest adorable story of them and think they are just a great as I do, someone who would know how to take my husband’s teasing and enjoy it and laugh with him, someone who would be at every major event in my life and be tirelessly helping to make things just right, someone who is filled with an abundance of love and joy for life.
Though my parents did not give me that sister, God did not disappoint! He brought me Jackie, and for the last 30 years she has been all those things I listed and more to me. Today is her birthday. So please join me in celebrating my “sister from a different mother”. I love you dearly my sweet chum 🙂

Happy Birthday Jackie! Wish we could get together over a cup of tea!
M and I had a wonderful tea at The Cobbles Tea Room in Rye. I have a picture of the two of us under their sign…looks like I have a tea pot growing out of my head! Cheers, H. B-P
