Next In Line?

As we all know, there is another Royal Baby on the way – due this month.  When this baby comes along, how will it effect the succession to the throne?

Ideally, the Royals like to have an “heir and a spare”.  Diana produced just what they wanted in William and Harry, as, at the time, the heir needed to be a male.  It is a little different now as now, for the first time, whomever is born first, whether baby boy or baby girl, that baby becomes the next in line to the throne.  So whether Catherine produces a boy or a much-awaited girl, it will not matter as this baby will be the “spare” either way.  At this point, he or she will be the 4th in line to the throne, after his/her grand father, Prince Charles, his/her father, Prince William, and his/her brother, Prince George.  Harry keeps getting booted one more rung down the ladder but we realize that he probably does not mind one bit!
