Love Wins
Yesterday we celebrated the life and work of Martin Luther King Jr. Actually Dr. King had a lot to say on a number of subjects and a lot of wisdom to share…wisdom that is important for more than just one day a year. He spoke often and directly about love. Here are just few of the words of wisdom on love that he left us.
“He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love.”
“There can be no deep disappointment where there is not deep love.”
“Everybody can be great … because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.”
“Nonviolence is absolute commitment to the way of love. Love is not emotional bash; it is not empty sentimentalism. It is the active outpouring of one’s whole being into the being of another.”
“Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love.”
“Not everybody can be famous but everybody can be great because greatness is determined by service… You only need a heart full of grace and a soul generated by love.”
“I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality… I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.”
To all this we say wholeheartedly “AMEN” and WELL DONE Dr. King… WELL DONE!
