Ladies and Gentlemen, The Queen
As you well know, your Two Chums love the Royals and love sharing little things about them.
Queen Elizabeth was not meant to ascend the throne ….well, let’s say that for the first 10 years of her life, Queen Elizabeth would have been just like today’s Princess Beatrice, a distant heir to the throne.
But when her Uncle, King Edward VII abdicated, she had the weight of duty placed on her little shoulders. And then Princess Elizabeth knew that one day, she hoped far in the future, she would become Queen Elizabeth II.
That time came much sooner than she thought and at the young age of 26 she became Queen. Elizabeth adored her father so, on many levels, this was very difficult.
Now, the longest reigning monarch, Elizabeth has been on the throne for over 64 years. Queen Victoria, her great-great-grandmother passed on in 1901 having been on the throne for 64 years.
The Queen never carries money but always carries a handbag. It is seen on her arm at all functions.
Is it purely for “show” in that it completes her outfit or does the Queen have something she deems important in that handbag? We are told that she carries her lipstick (every girl needs it) and does not apologize for using it in public.
Perhaps a cell ‘phone is that handbag as she is up-to-the-minute in that she, like many of us grandmothers, texts her grandchildren. And, there is no doubt that there is a pretty embroidered handkerchief in the bottom of that handbag!
Long live the Queen!
