Joy In The Morning
As the Christmas song reminds us “This is the happiest time of the year.” And in general that is so very true for most people, even those who don’t celebrate Christmas. There is a spirit of joy that is present and can be felt by even the most sour Scrooge.
Still, even at this season of year, there are those times, those situations, that we can’t anticipate, that sometimes knock the wind out of us, or blindside us and can leave us in a pool tears. When that happens remember this:
In yesterday’s post we encouraged you to “hold on tightly to your joy”. We repeat that encouragement today as life can be difficult and yes, cruel even, in this “happiest” season. If that is where you are right now, keep trusting that more good is coming. There is another Psalm that tells us as much. “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” Psalms 30:5
If you think of your life like a tree, imagine happiness as the low hanging fruit, it can be here one day and gone the next. Joy though, is the deep water that runs way beneath the surface of the ground where the tree is planted. Joy sustains and nourishes the tree through the sunny days as well as the storms.
If you are in the midst of one of those kinds of storms, remember God always sees your heart. He knows why you have those tears and he will respond to the prayers they represent. He will bring you joy in the morning.
