He is King!
Well, after a very celebratory weekend, we are starting on another new week. And, along with a new week is a newly crowned King!
The Coronation went very smoothly and brought all sorts of people together. The Cathedral was packed although much less people than were at Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation in 1952. We are not sure how they fit them all in, quite honestly, although we are told that there was all sorts of staging for the previous Coronation.
The thing that struck your Two Chums most about the day was the humility that we felt. King Charles started it out by saying, “I am not here to be served but to serve”. Wonderful words, to be sure. Simply wonderful! One of the page boys opened the service with these words:
Your Majesty,
as children of the Kingdom of God we welcome you
in the name of
the King of Kings
The King responded:
In his name, and after his example, I come not to be served
but to serve.
If you did not get a chance to see it, try to see a replay. England was doing what it does best – pomp and splendour (sic)! The music was beautiful with many, many voices joining in song.
Everyone looked glorious and behaved well!
Then at the concert in celebration Prince William shard these words:
God save the King!
