Happy Dyeing
Easter is almost here. Dyeing Easter eggs can be the highlight of your holiday preparations, or an exercise in frustration. We have a fun way to dye your eggs that we think you and your kiddos will like. This involves hard boiled eggs of course, some rice, food coloring, vinegar, and plastic bags.
First put 1/8 to 1/4 cup of regular rice (uncooked) in each bag you are using. You will need one bag per color you want to make your eggs.
Next add a few drops of food color and a bit of vinegar. Do not make the rice really wet. You should have just enough vinegar to moisten the rice.
Add your hard boiled egg and shake the bag. Remove the egg and allow it to dry and the color to set for about 15 minutes.
You could even experiment with coloring your egg with one color and then adding it to another color. Though we must admit this may change the color of the dye on the rice in the bag but worst case scenario, you dump out the rice and start again.
In any case, Happy Dyeing!
