Guest Check List
The Holidays often bring house guests and wonderful “together times”. But….
make sure those times are wonderful, easy, and relaxing and that all concerned enjoy the time together.
Here are a few suggestions to prepare for your guests’ arrival:
- On arrival, give your guests an extra set of keys so that they can come and go as they want to.
- Leave a “cheat sheet” in their room or area with your Wifi code and any other valuable information they may need for their stay.
- If you will have to be using blow up beds, check them a couple of days before arrival to make sure everything is in working order. Better find out that there is a hole in it and fix it before they come rather than have your guest stand around whilst you try to fix it!
- Make sure the sheets on the guest bed are clean and inviting.
- Extra pillows and a blanket or two are always a great thing to leave for your guests. You never know how many pillows they might to sleep with. Also, it is a good idea to have one feather and one synthetic pillow for each guest. A lot of us are very picky about one or the other!
- Leave a bottle of shampoo and hair conditioner in the bathroom for your guests…always a nice touch.
- Make sure there is extra toilet paper in the bathroom which your guests will be using.
- These days, everyone is always charging things! Make sure there are enough outlets in their area – perhaps a power strip would be in order.
- Nothing says “welcome” better than a little bouquet of real flowers, a carafe of water, a stack of fun books or magazines, and a little plate of cookies and nuts.
- And finally, leave a little “welcome note” for your guests. Feeling “wanted” is a lovely experience!
Last, but not least, enjoy your guests. If you feel yourself getting anxious or in a frenzy, step back and take a deep breath. That is NOT what the holidays are about. They are about love, joy and abundant gratitude!

I know a hostess who practices these guidelines with their guests. It’s always quite a lively treat staying with them. Even their doggie is trained to love and welcome guests.
