What does it mean when the Queen of England moves her handbag from one side to the other?

Ever wondered why the Queen always carries a handbag?

The answer is more interesting than just making a fashion statement. Normally, Queen Elizabeth II carries her handbag on her left arm. But if she’s in a conversation and she moves her handbag to her right arm, this signals to her staff that she’s ready to move on.

She can also use her handbag to indicate that she’s ready to leave an event by placing it on the table.

Now, don’t think for a moment that your Two Chums know this fact for sure. Certainly, we did not hear it “from the horse’s mouth”, so to speak, but we have read it and it does sound like something that could be true!
