Frogmore House

Prince Harry and his soon to be wife, Meghan Markle, will be married on 19 May, 2018.  The wedding will take place at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.  And later that day a select few people have been invited by Prince Charles to an evening of dinner and dancing and celebrating at Frogmore House.

“What is Frogmore House?”, you might well ask.  Well we do know a little bit about it.  Not too much but a little.  Most importantly, we do know that it is located about a mile from the Chapel where the nuptials will take place.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, UK, the “Berkshire-based building was first purchased by George III as a present for his wife, Queen Charlotte, back in 1792.

Ever since, royals from across the generations have hosted private dinner parties within its walls and everything from its decadent interiors to the garden planting scheme reflect past owners from Queen Victoria to Queen Elizabeth .”

As the first member of the royal family to live at Frogmore House, Queen Charlotte created the lake and extensive garden, according to the Royal Collection Trust.  The name “Frogmore House” was given to this beautiful abode because there were many frogs living on the property.

The house itself is heavily influenced by botany with intricate floral designs adorning many of the walls. The passions of several generations of the royal family can also be found within the walls-for instance, the Britannia Room features items and artefacts from The Duke of Edinburgh’s “much-loved vessel” Royal Yacht Britannia, which was removed from service in 1997.

Full of sprawling acres of beautiful landscape, apparently, when they first met, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle held picnics at Frogmore House to stay away from the press. Among the gardens at Frogmore House, there are secluded areas perfect for a private picnic.  And it was on the steps of this magnificent House that  the couple chose to have their engagement photos shot.

While the building isn’t usually open to visitors, Frogmore House will open to members of the general public for three days only from June 5, with all proceeds going to charity.

A good time will be had by all, we feel certain, as Prince Harry and his new bride dance the night away at this sumptuous location.

Not long now and we will see them say “I do”.  Yes, there will be celebrating going on!

In the seventh paragraph I think you mean “sprawling” acres. Thanks for the info.
