Flower Trends For 2014
With the infamous Rose Parade over for another year, we thought it would be fun to look at some of the foreseeable flower trends for 2014.
As most of you know, your Two Chums love, really LOVE, going to the Los Angeles Flower Market. Oh, it is such a joy just to step inside and smell the wonderful perfume of all the flowers.
According to the flower maestros at the LA Flower Mart this is what we can expect:
Coral and Navy Blue: These two colors are predicted to be the main theme colors for 2014 weddings. As many of you know, coral was a hot trend for weddings this past summer and it is likely that it will continue to be through 2014. On the other hand, navy blue is said to be the new black because it is such a classic color and allows infinite choices for bouquets.
Bringing the Outside In: Since the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge when the aisle was lined with trees, couples have been keen on incorporating natural features into their wedding flowers. As a result, many have used cherry blossoms to line their own church ceremonies or create oversized centerpieces.
Vintage: This trend shows no sign of ending. Bouquets trimmed with trailing bows and lace, bowls filled with garden flowers, afternoon tea receptions complemented with flower-filled crockery; all in the most beautiful pastel shades.
Houseplants: The use of houseplants to create stunning centerpieces of different colored orchids or roses in unusual pots for quirky, but simple table settings is sure to be a win in 2014.
Special Effects: It is likely that you will see the use of special effects lighting more often in 2014. This type of lighting can create stunning effects while requiring only minimal flowers. For example, imagine a Manzanita tree lit with fairy lights and a few exotic orchids placed delicately throughout the design.
Floral Headpieces: This trend is likely to continue through 2014. Forget tiaras! The must-have accessory for 2014 is a circlet of flowers. Floral headpieces can be worn by brides and bridesmaids in weddings and be implemented for other special occasions like birthdays.
So, with all of this fun information, let’s go forward spreading love and joy through flowers!
