Favorite Things – Provocalips

Though we gave you a preview of this yesterday, today we want to tell you all about it 🙂

So here is the story:

I was on my way with some very dear chums to a luncheon at Jackie’s house.  I happened to be wearing a very red lipstick.  As I glanced in my mirror at a stop light I saw that I needed to reapply my lipstick as I had been drinking a cup of coffee on my way to her house and much of it had come off on my cup.  Reaching in my handbag I realized I had forgotten to put my lipstick in my purse.  I stopped at a Walgreens just before I got to her home to pick up something else and while inside walked by the lipsticks on my way to the checkout counter.  Without giving it a lot of thought I grabbed the first bright red lipstick I saw which just happened to be Rimmel Provocalips 16 Hour Kiss Proof Lip Colour in a shade called “Kiss Me You Fool”.

I didn’t notice at the time that it was a “long lasting” lip color.  I have tried many different brands like that before.  In fact, in my makeup drawer, along with all the other regular lipsticks and lip glosses, I have at least 9 or 10 different kinds and brands of lipstick or lip stain that claim to be “long wearing”.  Some stay on better than others.  Some make your lips feel rather dry and cakey.  Some are honestly no different than regular lipstick.  I have some that are cheap and some pretty pricey ones, but none that I would say really live up to the claim of being “long wearing”….that is until now!

I made my way into Jackie’s powder room when we arrived and applied my new purchase with little or no real expectation that this tube of lip color would be any different than the dozens of others I own.  But boy was I wrong!  We had our lunch (She served the most delicious French Onion Soup!) and then dessert and coffee.  We lingered for several hours enjoying each others company and in addition to the coffee I had with my dessert, I had several glasses of water and tea.  Before starting the drive home I popped into the powder room again and noticed in the mirror that my lipstick looked exactly like it had when I applied it 4 hours earlier. That was my first clue that this lipstick was something special.  It actually is “long wearing”!  On top of that, I paid just $6.99 for it.

It is my grandchildren’s favorite new thing when they see me.  They are usually covered in kisses when they arrive and consequently, sometimes covered in my lipstick.  They are amazed by this “magic” lip color and thrilled.  On Monday night at our weekly family dinner, they kept asking for more kisses and then checking in the mirror in delight that there was no lipstick residue on their sweet little faces 🙂

To show you just HOW long wearing this stuff really is, here is photo from yesterday when I first put the lipstick on at 8:30 am:
And here it what my lips looked like after I had removed the rest of my makeup and washed my face at 11:30 pm.  I had not touched my lips or reapplied anymore lipstick all day.

(Now you know we are chums because I NEVER take a photo without makeup on!)

I now own 3 of the shades it comes in and will no doubt try at least a couple of other colors.
It is available at most drug stores and Walmart and Target or you can always order it from Amazon.com.  With so much to do at the holiday season and so many fun gatherings and events to attend, you can put your lipstick on once in the morning and know you will still be looking fresh all day and into the evening.  Rimmel Provocalips is one of  our new “Favorite Things”.  We think it would make a great stocking stuffer and certainly a great little gift to give yourself  🙂
