Do You Know?
Do you know where cashmere comes from?
With the cooler weather coming on, there is nothing more comforting than cuddling up in a cashmere sweater or shawl! BUT …
…do you really know where this particular type of wool comes from?
Well, Trivia Genius lets us know that “You can thank goats for your favorite sweaters. Cashmere is made from goats used to produce wool, but not just any goat hair will do. Cashmere is specifically harvested from the goats’ undercoats. It’s a laborious process and the goat hair has to be sorted and combed by hand. As a result, it takes more than two goats to produce the average sweater — which explains why they’re so pricey.”
So, the next time you pull out a piece of your favorite cashmere, you can thank the goats!
Here’s to cuddling!
