Did You Know?
Today, the word “Wrigley” is most associated with two things: Chewing gum and the famous home ballpark of the Chicago Cubs.
But Chicago businessman William Wrigley Jr. actually got his start making and selling scouring soap. That’s the business that the original incarnation of the Wrigley family company was in, but it didn’t last. They switched to baking powder, then gum — each product originally given away as a freebie and then proving more popular than the primary purchase. The Wrigley gum empire still stands strong, with more than a billion dollars of sales each year.

And did you know that Mrs. Wrigley was a Christian Scientist? The family of her CS Teacher were very close friends of mine.
No, we did not know that, Dick! Interesting.
The Wrigley’s also owned Catalina Island where they still raise Arabian horses.
So interesting! Thanks for contributing!
