Dear Chums – Should There Be An End Time?

Dear Chums
“Dear Two Chums,

When I send out an invitation, should I put an “end time” on it?”

Dear Party Giver,

There is no particular “rule” for this but our feeling is that an end time is really telling your dear guests that you want them to leave at by certain time – perhaps a little bit cold.  BUT, on the other hand, there are times when an end time is needed and in that case, you should definitely put one.  For example, if you are having an Open House where people will drop in and drop out, definitely, you should put an end time as, in that case, your guests are not expected at any particular time but within the times that are on the invitation.  Or, if you are having a child’s party where the parents are dropping the children off and then returning to pick them up.  They will obviously need to know what time to come.

We say, let the party go on as long as everyone is having a wonderful time – more love, more joy and yes, more abundance!

I agree with this response to the question posed. We have an open house Christmas drop-in for the neighborhood. We say it’s from 1-6 pm. The last guest usually leaves by 10 pm. But the catering people who prepare and clean up the food can begin their duties at the appointed hour. But I also love lingering guests who are having fun and involved in conversations.

I also love spontineity and it’s always fun to see how the joy and love and abundance will unfold at a gathering. Last week I went to the lovely new home of some friends and it was completely unplanned. We ended up talking on many topics for five hours then we had a light supper around the table looking out over the ocean, took a ride in their new Tesla electric car, played a fun game and finally left ten hours later. I even met a new couple that were so much fun to be with.

So, I say, let go and be open to having fun! Now that’s abundance!!
