Comforting Words
During WWII these words brought encouragement and comfort to the British citizens.
With things like toilet paper and bottled water and hand sanitizer no where to be found and food staples disappearing off the shelves of grocery stores, and schools closing along with sporting events being postponed or cancelled altogether, the words here seem more apropos than perhaps they have since 1939. Where did they come from you may well ask? According to wikipedia:
“Keep Calm and Carry On is a motivational poster produced by the British government in 1939 in preparation for World War II. The poster was intended to raise the morale of the British public, threatened with widely predicted mass air attacks on major cities.”
Well with the threat of widely predicted virus outbreak everywhere we turn, this message coined by our British allies is as timely right now as it was in 1939.
And your Two Chums would add to this message to look for things to make you laugh and bring you joy. Many health experts tell us that stress and anxiety increases your susceptibility to illness and lowers your immune system significantly. So keep calm, carry on and for goodness sake remember to laugh!
