Comfort Food – Breadsticks
These breadsticks are just so easy, and better still, just so yummy, you’ll be making them again and again and again we’re sure!!!
We stumbled across this really simple recipe on Instagram. On a whim, we gave it a try, thinking it sounded just WAY to easy to taste very good. We were WRONG! These are delicious. We made ours gluten free, using gluten free flour, but if you don’t have an issue with gluten, simply use regular wheat all purpose flour. We served them with a spaghetti dinner and they were a huge hit. They would also be a perfect accompaniment to salads, soups, chicken and rice…..really anything with which you might serve bread. Give them a try. We know you, and your family, will be really happy you did 🙂
Gluten Free Breadsticks
2 cups gluten free flour (plus extra for rolling out)
1 cup full-fat greek yogurt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning, or rosemary, or your favorite herbal blend
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. In a large bowl add flour, baking powder and salt and whisk together to blend. Next add in the yogurt (be sure to use whole milk yogurt as low fat yogurt will NOT give you the same outcome.)
Stir together until all the flour is moistened. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured board and form an 8 inch circle. Cut the circle into 6 equal pieces. Roll out each piece into an 8 inch log.
Place the logs on a parchment lined baking sheet. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with Italian seasoning or herbs of your choice. Or if you don’t want your bread to be so seasoned, simply brush with olive oil or melted butter and slightly sprinkle with kosher salt.
Bake for 15 minutes or until the breadsticks just begin to brown. Bon Appetit!
