Christmas Trees – Cupcake “Trees”
If you are looking for a last minute dessert for your Christmas feast we’ve got a fun, easy and tasty one for you today 🙂Make cupcakes using your favorite cake recipe or if you are in a big hurry use a boxed cake mix. When the cupcakes have cooled, add a layer of frosting to the cupcake, then top with an ice cream cone, a sugar cone, the pointed kind. Cover the ice cream cone with green buttercream icing. Use a decorative piping tip and circle around the cone or cover the cone with icing.
Or you can use an offset spatula or small knife to apply the icing and then make small strokes to look like the boughs of the tree. You can add a decorative border where the cone meets the cupcake if you like and also add a dot of red icing to the top of your tree.
You can find cupcake papers like these at Michaels or other craft stores, anywhere they sell cake making products, and even the 99 cent store. That happens to be where these cake cups came from. They are made of heavy card stock. You can place them on a cookie sheet and fill them with the cake batter and then bake them.
Make a few trees to display among your other cupcakes or create a whole forest. You could even dust them with powdered sugar when you are finished to look like they have snow on the tips.
Whatever you do this Christmas, have fun. Laugh, sing and share love, joy and all the abundance of the season with those you love.
