Brides Around The World – China
Well, you might think this should be in England but read on to find out more!
The tea ceremony is one of the biggest components of a Chinese wedding.
A tea ceremony is a sign of marriage in the eyes of Chinese tradition.
The time-honored tradition, which dates all the way back to the Tang dynasty in China (618 to 907), was created to show respect for the couple’s families.
Although the exact details vary from celebration to celebration, most tea ceremonies involve the wedding couple serving tea to their parents and other extended family members as a sign of respect.
After each elder takes a sip, they hand the couple a lai see (a lucky red envelope), which usually contains money or gold jewelry.
So very interesting!
