“Becall-isms”
This week, a classy lady passed on ……..
….leaving a great legacy!
Here are a few of the things that she believed:
Don’t sacrifice style while travelling: How incredibly stylish does Bacall look in this photo taken in New York City after she had just arrived from Europe? In an age where sweatpants rule the airport, Bacall’s look (and her children!) is a reminder that you can still look fashionable while travelling. (Photo by Hulton Archive/Getty Images)
Keep it simple. Fashion shouldn’t have to be hard: The film noir star was a firm believer that fashion should be effortless. In 1957, Norman Norell, who made many of her clothes, told Vogue that the Bacall rule was that you shouldn’t have to “do too much to clothes,” just wear them. She also described her look as “studied carelessness,” a mantra which many modern-day style icons still echo. (Photo via John Kobal Foundation/Getty Images)
Grow Old Gracefully
“I think your whole life shows in your face and you should be proud of that.”
When Bacall began her career, she looked so young that she was fondly referred to as Baby. As she grew older, she never lost her glamour or style, pairing pearl earrings and her signature coiffure with a face untouched by plastic surgery, engrained with a lifetime of experience.
Quite an icon. Thank you, Ms. Becall!
