Are You Mentally Strong?
What do you think makes you mentally strong? Travis Bradbury, a contributor to Forbes magazine, shares this with us.Life has a way of testing your mental strength when you least expect it. The true sign of mental strength doesn’t lie in what you do; it’s what you don’t and absolutely won’t do. The greater the challenge, the more difficult it is to respond with mental fortitude.
It’s hard to be mentally strong, especially when you feel stuck. The ability to break the mold and take a bold new direction requires that extra grit, daring, and spunk that only the mentally strongest people have.
Thomas Edison provides an interesting example. When his factory burned to the ground in 1914, destroying one-of-a-kind prototypes and causing $23 million in damage, Edison’s response was simple:
“Thank goodness all our mistakes were burned up. Now we can start fresh again.”
Edison wouldn’t allow himself to wallow in his misfortune. Instead, his reaction is the epitome of mental strength—seeing opportunity and taking action when things look bleak.
You can improve your mental strength by studying the 10 things that mentally strong people won’t do under any circumstances:
- They don’t dwell on mistakes.
- They don’t hang around negative people.
- They don’t stop believing in themselves.
- They don’t wait for an apology to forgive.
- They don’t feel sorry for themselves.
- They don’t hold grudges.
- They won’t let anyone limit their joy.
- …. and they don’t limit the joy of others.
- They don’t get lazy.
- They don’t get negative.
Thanks, Travis. Great message.
Now, chums, let’s all start practicing these tips. Being mentally strong will take you to the top of your game!
