An Inspirational Ask
Most people think that it is only the average everyday person who sometimes works up the courage to ask a celebrity for an autograph. Sometimes it’s an actor or sports figure, or a famous musician whose autograph is sought out by someone. But did you know that sometimes one famous person might admire another enough to seek out their signature on a card or photo?
It was Mike Rowe (of The Discovery Channel’s show Dirty Jobs) who himself is a great narrator and storyteller who brought this story to everyone’s attention on social media. His caption on the social media post read:
“There are many ways to request an autograph. Most are uninspired and ineffective. But not all…”
Most creative and entertaining from one big celebrity to another. We would have expected nothing less from the great writer John Steinbeck. And now, thanks to Mike Rowe, you too know of at least one good inspirational ask for an autograph!

What a fun letter from JS! I wonder who has that autographed photo of MM today? It would be priceless. Great story and post.
Love it!!!
PS. I got Cary Grant’s autograph in an elevator in NY. I was thrilled!
How very exciting! We can certainly understand why you would be thrilled 🙂
